Places in Wakefield Park that were popular with families and children in the 1940s. Sadly, many of these places are now rundown, derelict and/or vandalised. Wakefield Council has recently (2008) agreed to refurbish the bandstand but, at the same time, said that they can no longer afford to maintain the flower beds and rose gardens. These days they are spending money on new and expensive museums and art galleries - but that was before Credit Crunch!!
